Betty Jane Brown Herrington5/22/1923 - 9/18/2008
HERRINGTON, Betty Jane Brown of Tampa died September 18, 2008 of complications from pneumonia. Betty was born 85 years ago in Flat Rock, Michigan. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Wells Squire Herrington and two grandchildren. Betty is survived by her loving and grateful daughters; Mike Olmstead (Ken), Pat Endo (Toshi), Dani Kelley (Frank), Timi Behrendt (Gary), and Teri Simpson (Granville Spurlock), 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grand children and one great-great grandchild. She had a career as an automotive bookkeeper long before women had careers. She loved to dance and drive her Corvette. Her community involvement included the Order of the Eastern Star and as a volunteer for Hospice. She was a beautiful and loving woman whose proudest accomplishment was raising her family.
At her request, there will not be a viewing. Betty will be cremated and her ashes will be buried by her husband’s in Illinois in the spring when her beloved lilacs will be in bloom. The family suggests that anyone wishing to honor Betty’s memory make donations to Big Brothers & Sisters of Tampa Bay in her memory.
