Here is the other side of that road leading into what is now the des moines river.
Across the way is where we went sledding. That hill is high enough for us to sled down, so that tells you how high the water is.
The water has made its way all the way up onto university near Mercy hospital.
Theres much more flooding to the north of us, and ive heard that I-80 is about to be washed out and merle haye road may get shut down too. Right now, the only real way to get from west and central des moines to east des moines if 235, causing a nasty bottleneck of traffick all the time now. The flooding still isnt at its peak, that doesnt happen until tomorrow, so we will see if the levys hold and hope downtown doesnt get too flooded.
